I am currently a North Carolina Licensed Real Estate Broker, and have been practicing in the Pender, Onslow, and New Hanover counties for over eight years. I currently am assigned as Broker in Charge over the Century 21 Sweyer & Associates office located in Surf City, and have been with Century 21 Sweyer for 6 of the 8 years in real estate, starting in the Hampstead office. I have been involved with many Commercial transactions, however, the majority of my experience is with Residential Homes and Land.

I am originally from a small town outside of Fayetteville, NC, where my extended family still lives. I went on to graduate from East Carolina University, where I received a B.S. Degree in Conservation/Biology.

Most of professional career I have been in sales. I have over 20 years in advertising/marketing sales, with the past 8 years focusing on Real Estate. Being a Realtor has been the most rewarding professional development for me, as I find each day a different challenge to make a difference in either my client’s lives, or in the lives of the Brokers that I supervise.

I am actively involved in the Topsail Island Board of Realtors, where I currently serve as 2008 President. Prior to being elected President, I served as Director for 2 years, and Secretary. I am very proud to represent over 400 Realtor members of the TIAR, and serve on the NC State Board representing over 46,000 Realtors.

My priorities in life are God First, my work second, buy never my family last. I am very proud of my 16-year old son Jared, who is a junior at Topsail High School, and am avid golfer. I am also proud of my husband of 21 years, Jeff James, who is an accomplished licensed North Carolina General Contractor, with his own company in Surf City, Carolina Coast Contracting Inc.

I have a vision for this association and I hope you share this vision with me.

My vision includes:

• An MLS data sharing agreement with other Coastal Associations allowing our members access to other coastal MLS data while our members only pay TIAR for MLS fees! Your listings would be marketed in other coastal MLS systems as well! The days of paying two or three association dues will be over!
• Build RELATIONSHIPS with neighboring local associations through quarterly forum meetings.
• Build RELATIONSHIP with our local chamber to assist them in their great effort of MARKETING our beautiful area.
• Build RELATIONSHIPS with local government authorities to better serve our clients and protect our local industry through quarterly meetings. Our association is 550 members strong, we are a local force that government should consult with when making new policies. We can affect local politics!
• ENHANCED TOOLS on Associations website to better server our members and their day to day business.
• Develop TIAR’s Written STRATEGIC PLAN to explore and map our growth in the coming five years.
• Actual goals for each committee chair to help guide the association in the RIGHT direction.
• Explore benefits and tools for our property management members at the association level.
• Philanthropy – We should be ADDING more to our community through charity efforts.

My name is Christina Asbury and I am your 2008 TIAR Secretary. I work with Exit Homeplace Realty and serve Pender, Onslow, Brunswick, and New Hanover Counties. Originally from Hickory, NC, I have been in the Topsail area since 1996, I graduated from Dixon High School in 1999, and got into the real estate business in early 2004.

I am the first EcoBroker Certified Realtor east of Interstate 95, specializing in energy efficient and environmentally friendly homes and features. I am also the first Accredited Land Consultant in our area, knowledgeable in all fields of land sales including 1031 tax-exchanges, land development, site analysis, land investment analysis, and much more. I have always been a leader, had the desire to serve my peers, & give back to the community and organizations that have helped me succeed. I serve on the Educational,, Member Survey, and Special Events Committees. I am also the Chairperson for the Website Committee. WE ENJOYED A 21 YEAR CAREER IN THE USAF AND ANOTHER 12 YEARS AS A PROGRAM DIRECTOR MANAGING GOVERNMENT TRAINING PROGRAMS. IT WAS THIS CAREER THAT BROUGHT US TO TOPSAIL. AFTER GOING THROUGH THE “CORPORATE DOWNSIZING”, WE MOVED HERE PERMANTLY IN NOVEMBER 2002.

While employed by the law firm (which was owned by two brothers who were major developers of Topsail Island in which I was also involved). In January of 1987 I joined Phil Mayrand, Jr. , owner of Mayrand Real Estate, and subsequently became sole owner in 1988. Changed name of business to Lewis Realty Associates, Inc. in 1992. In 2000 my nephew, Chris Rackley, came to work with me; soon became Vice President of firm and now manages the Surf City office at 320 No. New River Drive, while I manage our Holly Ridge office which opened in March, 2007.

After graduating with a BS in Business Administration from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, in 1983 with a degree in accounting, and a minor in economics and management information systems, I moved to southeastern North Carolina. North Carolina became my home and after marrying my husband Tony in 1988, who is a Topsail Beach native. It became my home all over again. Boy have there been lots of changes in the last 20+ years. John Toler

I am a native Eastern North Carolinian, having grown up in the small town of Princeton , about two hours from our beautiful coast. My dad built a beach cottage in the 1950's, and we would go as often as we could. I attended East Carolina University in Greenville , and since graduating have always worked and lived near the coast.

My work experience includes operating partner of a small convenient store chain, an area manager with Kelloggs and a sales representative for a large uniform company before moving to Surf City in 2003.

A lifelong dream of living at the beach was realized when the opportunity to live and work here was given to me by Ward Realty Corporation, the "Original Developers of Topsail Island", and one of the most respected companies in the area. I have consistently been a Multi Million Dollar Producer, and in 2005 was elected to the Topsail Island Association of Realtors Board of Directors.

Dee has been married to her husband, Robert, for 34 years. Robert is an aircraft sheet metal mechanic for NADEP at the Military Base of Cherry Point, NC. Dee is currently a member of the Topsail Island & Jacksonville Multiple Listing Service and Topsail Island Association of Realtors. She currently serves as a Director on the Board of Topsail Island Association of Realtors. She has held the title as Secretary for 3 terms and is the Past President for 2004. She has held the title of Multi-Million Dollar Top Producer and has received several awards for her outstanding work. She is involved with her church and belongs to an outreach ministry called, Reaching Hearts Ministry, which assist single mothers and widows in need, and brings the gospel to women in prison.
